Happy New Year
Happy New Year to you all!
At this, the beginning of the new year, let’s take the time to really embrace the cosy art of living, slow down and enjoy life for just a few extra minutes each day, so here are a few tips.
Read a little each day
Try if you can, to make reading part of your daily routine. Grab a good book, make a hot cup of coffee/tea and curl up for a few minutes each day. Either start the day with a read or take some time before going to bed to wind down.
Bring nature indoors
We all know that being out in nature gives us a boost and makes us feel better, so why keep it outdoors? Bring some in to enjoy all the time. Buy houseplants and place them in different rooms around the house or be crafty with natural materials that you’ve found on a walk, they make fabulous home décor, and you get enjoyment out of knowing that it is something you have made.
Unplug from technology
Here is something we are all guilty of. We sit down in an evening or as we wake up and reach for our phone. We may work for long periods of time in front of a computer screen, especially since the pandemic began. Or we sit in front of the TV then go to bed. Try and take some time away from those tech devices. Leave your phone in another room and enjoy the time talking with family. Put it away 30 minutes before bedtime, have a warm bath or shower and then go to bed without looking at it.
Get in the kitchen and bake
We all cook in the kitchen, normally dinner, lunch etc, but when was the last time that some of us actually baked something from the very beginning. A cake? Bread? Small fairy cakes? These always taste so much better when they’ve been made from scratch.
Go for a walk
Plan to go out for a walk with family or friends during the day, before or after a meal. It doesn’t have to be a five-mile trek, just around the neighbourhood is fine. It’s a great way to spend some time with family and/or friends to catch up and spend quality time and also gives you some exercise as well.
Happy hyggering!
Peaceful wishes.
