Hygge in Autumn

Hello.

Well, it’s September already and the season is turning. Personally I adore autumn, the rich colours of the trees, Halloween and misty mornings.

Now is the time to start buying more candles as the nights are drawing in and to help create that comforting hygge feeling, then you’ll be using more candles.

After the lovely weather (mostly) of the summer, it can be hard to start to transition to autumn so here are a few hygge tips for the season.

  • Think about stocking up on board games, art materials and indoor activities both for children and adults.

  • How about creating a ‘hot drinking station’? Gather together hot chocolate mixes, marshmallows, teas, coffees and have a special table or area where everything is there ready to use.

  • Make an Autumn/Winter reading list - get the whole family together and think of books you’d really like to read, rather than sitting down and using technical devices. Visit a library or bookshop and start finding those titles you want.

  • Make the most of nature. Obviously autumn doesn’t have to be spent indoors. Dig out scarves, hats and warmer coats and get outside to enjoy the autumn colours, have a kick about in the fallen leaves and enjoy Halloween. Visit a pumpkin field and get yourself a pumpkin or two and have a family evening carving out those scary pumpkins! Make a competition with family and friends and invite them round for a Halloween party…

Autumn is a fabulous time of year. I hope these few simple tips will help you enjoy the upcoming season.

Until next time, take care and peaceful wishes.
